Montgat is the first municipality of the Costa del Maresme coming from Barcelona, separated from Badalona by the distinctive C-32 tunnels. A small town of around 11,000 inhabitants, it has a high density of sea-front and second-row apartments where blinds suffer particularly from the marine environment. At Persianista BCN 24H we reach Montgat in under 40 minutes from Barcelona.

Salt air and blinds in Montgat
Montgat has a particular characteristic: most of the residential apartments are concentrated in a very narrow strip between the C-32 motorway and the sea. This means that virtually every flat is on the first or second row, directly exposed to salt-laden sea breeze.
In these conditions, the metal axles and brackets inside the blind casing rust within a few years. PVC straps become brittle ahead of time. And aluminium slats, if not marine-grade, develop white corrosion spots that eventually weaken the structure. It is not unusual to find blinds in Montgat that are only 8–10 years old but already need full replacement.
